Level Up is the Kainé strand of work that supports BAME community organisations to get to the next ‘Level.’ Using our experience of 19 years of delivery in the city of Leicester, we work with additional local partners to address the issues that BAME Community Organisations’ face. This can include: –
• Governance & infrastructure
• Developing partnerships
Our recent programme looked at supporting BAME organisations to put themselves in the best position to apply for grants as figures show that there are low numbers successfully accessing grants.
This Level Up programme is implemented through group and one to one workshops, interactive programming, Q & A’s with Kainé Directors and other Leicester based community organisations and sessions run by the Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation (LLRCF). Participants received an information pack and contact details of stakeholders so that they can network further.
Participant Feedback: –
“I’m more reassured of the process. I now understand what they (funders) are looking for.” Max
“I found the SMART goals really helpful.” Taruna
“It was useful to find out why grants are rejected”. Rukhsana
“Level Up helped me to focus on setting up as a CIC”
Following this initial programme and enquiries from others we are looking to run focussed programmes for BAME Women and young people. We are also looking to support organisations on a bespoke programme of learning.
